The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 期待很大，失望就更大....其实对荞麦的期待还是很大的....看了一下导演原来是个德国人，难怪....德国人的电影向来相当的生硬.....男二简直就是一个德国马景涛....剑桥生被拍成这种气质也是服了....看在老戏骨的份上加了一星....

电影拍得都很好，但是这个史观和价值观真是让我作呕！
Paul不是没有勇气对着希特勒扣下扳机，他为了信念中的新德国和昔日的爱人恨不得对着希特勒的脑袋清空弹匣，只是当他面对那个他曾经狂热追随过的元首时内心闪过了一丝“怜悯”，曾经的狂热也即将再次点燃。毕竟什么都无法改变的时候试一试又何妨？
很一般，食之无味，本应很紧张的一个历史桥段像闹着玩一样，双男主也拯救不了。
刚看完书来看电影，重要情节大体相同，但是缺少了书中细节的心理描述，整个过程也就不那么紧张和刺激了，甚至是反转都是有迹可循，没有惊喜感。

典型的为表现主题，瞎凑各种大俗烂、想当然、不合理、不严谨桥段。
LD说：“也许这就是人类在面对重大历史灾难前的无奈。我们无从知道历史背后的真相，但小说为我们提供了一个可能的视角，这就够了。”
影片故事取材的角度比较新颖，既有可以最高决策的领导人，也把三个不同政治立场、人生遭遇的同学作为切入点，让观众记住大事件的发生，有个宏观的了解，同时也从小人物的命运当中，深刻地领会到，为阻止战争对各国人民带来的深重灾难，许多人都做了很多的努力，但是一个专制的战争政治机器一旦启动，很少有人能够让它停下来。
仅仅提供了一种虚构的视角，但也描述了二战发生的一些起因，提到了当时德国的人口数量和生存空间，战争是政治的延续，政治是利益再分配，人类的问题是资源永远不够。
7/10，拍的很精致。但局限于历史真实，虚构的人物比较概念化。
我们不能选择自己生活的时代，我们唯一的选择就是如何回应。
算是为张伯伦“洗白”的历史电影。聚焦慕尼黑协议签订前后的一系列情报搜集工作和政要动向，作者的观点很简单，不是因为绥靖导致反战，而是因为国内反战的呼声导致绥靖，“需要乃绥靖之母”。很工整，没啥优缺点。

电影挺精彩的，虽然是杜撰，但还是有很强的代入感。有点美化张的感觉。保罗才是真正爱国的人，键盘侠们看看吧
