其实我一直以为剧情是这样发展的：女主死了一个女儿，洋娃娃体内藏有毒品，女主最后被黑帮杀死。
这部电影的镜头语言不太流畅。导演的特色是大特写的运用，确实有颠倒黑白之力，但我不甚喜欢。

在这个故事里，不再有“小孩都是天使”的虚伪叙事和粉饰太平，在这里，小孩甚至是“邪恶”，她们让母亲抓狂到歇斯底里甚至抑郁。这种张力不会存在于男孩与父亲、男孩与母亲的之间，但却真实地出现在几乎所有女孩与母亲的关系中。女孩要么成功与母亲做切割，要么成为母亲。
恕我不能理解其中深意，并且觉得有点浪费时间。就感觉年轻的Lela很有味道，年老的Lela总有点我不喜欢的味道，就像我也不喜欢她演的女王。

开头以为要发展成《伊甸湖》，中段全程激起我私人对于玩偶的不适和恐惧反应，结局的明暗交汇和暧昧不清甚至觉得那不过是幻觉和死前潜意识的自我安慰，玛吉首执导筒便让人刮目相看，略显生涩的影像还原了某种原著文本的文学性，惊悚和悬疑的布局下，用人到中年功成名就独自度假的闲适，与其视角下小镇的女子将要面对或正在面对的母女困境，揭开其不为人知的伤痛往事，以及可以想见困扰其多年的内疚与懊丧，闪回段落中平行时空里被繁琐和无助所包围的育儿日常让观众能够充分共情其崩溃、抑郁与绝望的情绪，或许对于女性观众会有更强大的共鸣力量————自然，也是女性日常恐育的有力佐证。
未被言说过的经验，但在各个角度上呼应费兰特的其他作品，或许这些碎片拼凑起来，就能看到她的人生——然而看到又如何。Olivia Colman在我这最深刻的角色是Fleabag里的后妈，电影一开始的时候看见这张脸就想打她，看到结局却已经接受了这个新角色。Kyle则分分钟梦回西部世界拔枪杀人不眨眼。
作为处女作也算是相当成熟了。最棒的是配乐和科尔曼的表演。现在和过去两条线的交融其实有点乱，女主和岛上其他人的互动也并不是特别有效，但好在科尔曼的表演还是能让人看进去。

没看过原著小说，但感觉这是一部有些难度的电影，难度在于要以什么来支撑这么弱的一个故事：开头即结尾，48岁患有脑癌的女教师来到一片谈不上怡人的海滩度假，她观察游客，帮忙找孩子、偷玩偶，与不礼貌的一家人发生小摩擦……若把这些作为故事的主体肯定是不行，即便加上女二号与虚伪男教授的戏、妮娜出轨的戏、女主逃离家庭责任的爽与悔（暗线）、女主与房东的暧昧……也还是弱。但贯穿始末的那种紧张气氛很吊人，而这种气氛就是女主在最后时光的心理，恰到好处地填满了故事的间隙。女主的结局反映了社会对女性的无情：你若强行挣脱家庭对你的束缚去追求自由人生，你的命运也许就是这样。此外，尽管女二与教授的那场戏意在隐喻女主离家出走前的处境，但毕竟完全脱离了女主的内视角而又无处可借，处理得不够专业。总体还比较喜欢。
