The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 那些怪兽真的好可爱！不管哪个都好可爱！岛上那只紫色的蝎子/螃蟹的口器都好可爱，牙齿看起来粗粗圆圆，抖动的时候太可爱了！我只会说可爱了，就是岛上怪兽的部分我觉得不太够看，如果有第二部，希望是Jacob和Maisie去岛上度假的快乐生活
最后十分钟扣两星。
不错哎，物理学的倍儿明白，动作场景非常丝滑
故事可以说是《驯龙高手》《加勒比海盗》《哥斯拉》《怪物猎人》《少年派的奇幻漂流》的杂糅体，非常接近于《驯龙高手》，也是人类与动物间相爱相杀的矛盾与友谊，只不过将飞龙改为了海兽。红色海兽为了突出善良和萌萌哒，造型和《驯龙高手》里的主人公夜煞非常相似。
画风有点粗糙，海兽版驯龙高手？
老套路了，开头还怪的戏倒是不错，不过还是偏向儿童，好莱坞动画片永远这样，所以最终还是要传达真善美，HE结局，就像《训龙高手》差不多吧。
当人类小孩是圣母也就算了，海兽也能是圣母，也只有圣母遇到圣母才能活，有一方不是圣母都是嘎嘎死
还是老生常谈的话题，与生俱来被灌输的观点是否真的是对的，盲目的民众，盲目的相信，一代人传一代人。这其实都是政治隐喻，不能深说。
哪怕剧情老套，还是喜欢这种巨兽电影，毕竟那个男人不爱大怪物呢？越多越好！

适合带小朋友一起看的动画片，我和发财两个大朋友最近只想看一些不动脑的东西。。。
故事极其老套，结束的也很仓促，这种相同情节的已经不知道看过多少部了，部分地方逻辑都有点问题，比如那个小船晚上还有灯，镜头一转灯又没了
3.5⭐太适合孩子观看了，强烈建议全国小学生按头观看，画风童真浪漫，主题深刻但易懂，除了人与动物和谐相处之外，更有反洗脑之启示，不要轻信权威编造的假历史，要敢于质疑，敢于反抗。热评里说这部片圣母的人，生活里得是个多讨厌的人啊。
故事低幼逻辑浅陋，好在制作精良。如果没有《驯龙高手》珠玉在前评分会更高，现在看只是又一部奈飞大数据的产物而已。
7分。对这种加勒比风帆战舰的时代完全没有抵抗力呢~~~前半段完全是白鲸的故事设计，各种战斗设计还有画面效果都非常得我心，和披甲兽那段真得大赞~~但后半段是什么鬼？？一个从小长大的猎人，一个孤儿院跑出来的小孩，唯一的共同点就是父母都被海兽干掉了，最后竟然这么默契地就和解了？女孩子一通嘴炮直接把全国的人说动了？？我就好奇最后那将军知道自己在帝王号上的兄弟是被焰魔干掉的，会不会后悔没开炮。。。整个电影作为儿童片看看还是可以的，但太过宏大的主题就这么被无视还是有点可惜啊。
海兽好可爱，但居然同时也刻画出了吓人的一面，还挺牛逼的。收尾稍微有点过快，不过要是不这么整的话简直得拍好几季的权谋剧了吧hhh 可爱就完事了x

保守老套又无趣，一切情节闭眼预料的前提下还存在大量无法自洽的逻辑断链，长度足足两小时的叙事仍然缺乏必要铺垫充满走流程既视感。网飞抓取热门元素的经典招数不再有效，带子狼+女孩+萌宠+好心野兽这些曾经百搭的配方如今除了Karl Urban的配音全都味同嚼蜡，就连主角人设也是沿袭演员最火的影视作品形象加以略微改造。片中许多可以加深主题的情节关键，尤其事关历史本同虚构，战争只是人类权力的搬演这层醒悟，全部轻描淡写地带过，主旨升华沦为喊空话，最后成品又是一部给小孩看都不会抬下眼皮的幼稚儿童片。
小红和小蓝过于可爱哈哈哈。
