The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 就这种要惨就把人往死里整但是绝对不会死，要好转起来就完全不顾任何可能性的生硬转折，这种设定我真的受够了。 悲观如我从来不相信奇迹，只相信好事不常有，屋漏会逢连夜雨。 片子到最后喊口号式成功学甚至有点恶心到我。故事只值一星，给四字和章宇各加一星。
合格的类型片叙事节奏，至于现实，深圳早已不是奇迹之城，片中俯瞰下的白石洲也早已在“俯瞰下”荡然无存。
没人能抵御这种底层小人物的温热，虽然对套路化的情节设计做到了比较完整舒适的呈现，但依然没有逃脱刻意煽情，取悦于初级观众的弊端。日韩的同类型电影，已经可以将情感融化在最日常表达中，而非单独拎一块出来彰显情感，这也是目前这类华语电影面临最重要也最需要解决的问题
