The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 前三分之一都在混乱打杀，挺过开头，如此高手的刀疤的故事也就明白了。
还记得前面几部看得热血沸腾，一直期待还有续集。这也算是期待很久的电影，没想到全程耍酷，男女都一样，看起来根本就格格不入。
202111** 按照时间线来说，本作理应排在早两月上线的人诛篇之前，不过刻意作为压轴其实更加出彩，与副标题——追忆篇一脉相承！本作以剑心脸上的十字疤作了最好的诠释，从幕末到维新初期成为最为令人惊悚的刺客，可谓是出道之作。额外补一句，雪代巴的扮相实在讨人怜，自古红颜多薄命，剑心注定了悲凉而终的一生！
村花还是不太合适这个角色。全系列其实在漫改里算很好的了。

用最伤感的The Beginning作为The End，节奏虽缓慢，却并不觉拖沓，情怀满溢。。而之前觉得逆刃憋屈的观众，也终于见识了那个传说中刀刀见血招招致命的刽子手拔刀斋绯村剑心。。
的确跟ova不一样的观感，有惊喜到，尤其是村花。
本来以为会滑坡，毕竟ova追忆篇一贯被称作神作，但是电影版竟然不落下风。然后终于看到天诛人斩时，剑心有多凶狠凌厉了，相比之下，维新以后战斗力下降的厉害。好看，这系列彻底结束了吧？期待国内能引进，想去电影院看，然后特别可惜电影版没了动画版里，维新大业成功前夕，高杉晋作吐血而亡的悲壮，但是见到了，剑心与冲田总司两个绝顶高手之间的对决，好看
良心之作。beautifully shot 整部电影唯美哀伤的氛围 怕是更多要归功于灯光布景和摄影 两人最终一起度过的夜晚那一幕相当有大岛渚的感觉。打戏一如既往的精彩。可惜的是，节奏太慢，说得太少，以至于两人感情的发展有点生硬跳脱。另外确实岁月不饶人啊，佐藤健也不再是少年，其实男神年纪还是挺显出来的，绝对不是能够冒充14岁的年纪了，片尾剪辑第一部的开头，那时还是一脸胶原蛋白的少年感。
动作戏有点少，而且和总司那场估计期待值太高了看的不是特别过瘾。不过整体动作戏还是设计的不错的。光注意最终章了没注意回忆篇，所以新选组的出现也算意外之喜了，没想到还有池田屋的戏。不过以后前传能不能先拍？虽然佐藤很小只，现在这样叫少年也有点突兀了。又一次激起看原著的心！
这部节奏真的不行，有为虐而拖感，尤其是关键情节人诛篇都有讲的情况下。巴的拉扯感塑造得不够。就为系列情怀加颗星吧。
虽然是背靠背拍摄 但剪出了两个风格 终章偏商业 动作场景塞得很满 构思很巧 对一些只有漫画可以存在的武器运用进行了原汁原味的再现 序章偏文艺 有一定程度的历史科普意义 也对剑心和巴的情感拉扯作了细致的描绘 尤其是有村架纯 在颜值不占优的情况下突破了戏路 一武一文 加之严谨的硬件配置 不知道哪里找来的天神级动作指导 这套戏算是日本近年来少有的优质商业片 加之前面三部是留名日本影史的bug级作品 佐藤健亲自完成了90%的高难度动作戏 更值得敬佩的是他赋予了这个角色独一无二的演技 这一代的一哥当之无愧

the beginning居然是最終章，太牛逼了，看哭我了。我的佐藤健劍心，还有我的高橋一生。啊啊啊～
前传比前四部都好看，没有过多复杂的人物，完完全全是剑心的故事，画面真的唯美。

国乱之际，剑心为开创新时代变成刽子手，没看过原漫，一腔热情沦为工具的命运不知会否有变。追忆篇讲述剑心脸上十字疤的因缘由来，了解后觉得有些悲凉讽刺，这是人生体验也是命运捉弄。
天呐，这个版本我好爱！少年剑心从拔刀斋到不杀之誓。巴真的好温柔好温柔啊
