The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 不太同意所谓「断层」的说法，前半段极现代的镜头语言用以完成对于现代性的批判，Found Footage的调用引导视点自由穿梭在历史的迷雾当中。后半段未曾颠覆铺设好的情绪，人物以现代的身份为前现代的羁绊招魂——生存、爱恋与自我认同，因而叙事也最终复归传统，以图呼应内心隐秘的稚拙。
有些电影时间再长也不觉得长，有些电影时长会成为负担，无主之作是前者，这部是后者。
